1. Introduce yourself! Tell us about yourself and your business.

I'm Kelsey, one half of Tart Event Co, a DC & VA based event planning company. We specialize in weddings & social events. I head up the creative direction & design for our clients, while my business partner, Amelia, is our planning & logistics maestro. I live here in DC with my husband & toddler son, where we like to spend our time exploring DC's food, drink, museum & playground scenes.

2. What brought you to start Tart Event Co. and planning events?

My business partner & I both spent about four years after college in the event industry, gaining experience in hopes of one day starting our own company. We met in a communications class in college & knew by the time that we graduated that we wanted to eventually go into business together! Both of us started college on completely different paths but each arrived at event planning as a career as we narrowed down our skills & interests in school. I worked in the venue/non-profit capacity, & taking on private clients was the ideal way to flex my creative muscles & hone in on a client's personal style.

3. What’s your VUE? Tell us about your signature style.

My signature style is definitely a combination of my former days as a Madewell stylist & my current days as a work-from-home mom. I like to keep things simple, French, & high-waisted. I like to stick to a neutral color palette, with pops of blush, mustard & light blue... This helps me keep my closet compatible so I can just add & take away layers from season to season.

4. What are you looking forward to in the Spring season?

Spring is always so refreshing after a grey DC winter... I'm excited for the cherry blossoms (duhhh), my April baby's 2nd birthday, & playing with the yellows & textures I was seeing on the runways for Spring/Summer 2019!

5. How did you choose your custom VUE by SEK pairing?

I picked a pairing that worked with my wardrobe, which is a lot of gold/brass and neutrals. I like that the grey marble of the stone is such a subtle texture & color - It really works well with anything in my closet!
