Her VUE: Jennifer Seifert - VUE by SEK

Her VUE: Jennifer Seifert

The Her VUE blog features inspiring women who share similar core values of staying true to themselves, as well as making conscious choices, from purchasing to creating and living as a whole. This week we caught up with the amazingly talented Jennifer Seifert, owner Juno Pottery in Asheville, NC. She shares with us her vue and take on creating functional art.

Please introduce yourself and tell us more about what you do?

My name is Jennifer Seifert and I live in Asheville, North Carolina with my husband and three children. I have a small ceramics studio called Juno Pottery. Juno creates pottery that is both functional and artful, with the hopes of blending easily into any home to elevate everyday dining and living experiences.

What’s your VUE?

You know, talking about myself is really difficult for me! In many ways, I am a very private person, but I would say the things that most define me right now are my family and work. In both, I try to be genuine while leaving room for growth and change.

Let’s dive into your look. How would you describe your overall style?

The style of my home, closet and work are pretty consistent, I think. All are a mix of vintage, handmade and practical items. Often in my work, I look for inspiration from vintage items I've collected over the years. For example, I recently created a ceramic trivet inspired by a hand-carved wooden trivet I found at a local antique shop.

Expressing your authenticity is at the core of VUE by SEK, how do you think you express yourself best?

Self expression for me comes through creative outlets mostly. I've always had something that I've poured myself into whether music, mothering, making a home or making pottery.

How do you like to waste your time?

Most of my extra time revolves around my family. But when I find those rare extra moments for myself, I usually find myself playing the piano or picking up the guitar, trying to learn a new found cover or attempting to write a new song.

I love wasting my time looking at design accounts, although anytime feeling inspired by what others are creating and designing, is not wasted in my opinion!
